Merritt island wildlife refuge - Reviewed August 1, 2011. The Merritt Island NWF is VAST. It's a huge place, great for birding and seeing other wildlife. The manatee viewing area was our favorite, and to our joy we saw a family of 4 of them just to the left of the deck! At first, I figured that we wouldn't see any because the boaters but being patient proved me wrong!
